Pilot Project – Recovery of the Crested Toad
We provided support during the reintroduction of this species to the island’s North Karst Belt.
As a member of the Crested Toad (Peltophryne lemur) Recovery Team in northern Puerto Rico, CDK has supported the US Fish and Wildlife Service and the Department of Natural and Environmental Resources in selecting sites for reintroducing this species in the Northern Karst Belt.
Two areas within the El Tallonal farm were selected for the reintroduction of tadpoles of this endangered species. Prospectively monitoring studies of this new population will be carried out in the future.
