Ciudadanos del Karso (CDK) opens the nomination process by circulating the announcement in universities, research centers, scientific associations and cyber networks. CDK ensures that a fair and rigorous evaluation of nominations is conducted through an evaluation committee who works independently from CDK’s Board of Directors and which is comprised of scientists with the deep expertise and ample background, and who are committed to celebrating science as part of the Puerto Rico’s cultural legacy.

Winners photos and bios are circulated in exhibitions at different institutions and museums in Puerto Rico, so as to give the award the maximum diffusion. The proposed Instituto del Karso de Puerto Rico y el Caribe (IKPReC) located at Cerro de la Monserrate in Arecibo, Puerto Rico house for this exhibition permanently in the future.

This is a way for CDK to recognize the work of Puerto Rican scientists dedicated primarily to scientific research and highlight their achievement and legacy, which is an inspiration to future generations.
